Pumpkin Carving

We carved pumpkins last night, getting ready for Halloween tomorrow.  Riley was intrigued for about 3 minutes, and then there were obviously much more important things for her to do instead.  So Dustin and I ended up doing most (all) of the carvings.

This picture is from 3 years ago... Dustin decided to take out the blow torch to enhance his pumpkin.  Last year he decided to whip out the Drill, unfortunately I don't have pictures of that.  So what do you think he came up with this year?  The jigsaw.  I wonder which  power tool he will decide to use next year!

The end result.

On Monday night Dustin and I were dropping the mattress on Riley's crib to the lowest setting, since I had realized that she could get her leg up and over the railing.  While doing that we decided to try out the toddler rail instead of the crib rail...  Riley had a ball.  She was running in and out of her "new" bed all night.  The excitement finally wore off so I hopped we would be good at bed then.  We did our normal bedtime routine, I laid her in bed, said goodnight, shut off the lights and shut the door.  I waited by the door to see if anything would happen... I suddenly heard... pat, pat, pat, and the door flung open.  Riley looked at me, gasped and ran back to bed.  While giggling, I said good night to her once more and shut the door.  Pat, pat, pat, door opens and Riley comes running out to the family room and laughs hysterically, so am I by the way.  Once again we try unsuccessfully, so I decided to sit next to her and rub her back.... well, let's just say that by 9:00 her crib rail was back on!  Little stinker!  Maybe we will try again in a few months.
